First, leasing is NOT only for those who own a business and in most cases, you CANNOT write it off unless the lease is registered and initially leased under a business name. (I know this because this is what I do for a living). Secondly, leasing has become very attractive for those people who want to own more car for less money. For the most part, most people get into a new vehicle every three to four years and unless you are putting down a hefty amount of money, at least 30-40% of the asking price, you will always have negative equity. If you are the type of person who likes a new car every few years, then by all means lease. Third, you have the option to purchase your leased vehicle at the end, so if you are over the miles this is an option. You will be given a risidual value or a guaranteed future value which will NOT go down or up. Some bank will also negotiate the buy out simply because they DO NOT want the car back. Lastly, you can also trade the car in if you are over miles or if you have equity or if you want to get out of it early. The only thing with trading is, you will NOT get a tax credit since the vehicle does NOT belong to you. with respect to your question about insurance, most leasing companies/banks require you to carry 100/300/50 with a maximum of 1000.00 deductible. if you do the comparison between the basic comp and coll of 50/30/15 and 100/300 it's really not that much money. depending on your driving record, how long you have been licensed and what insurance carrier you have, will determine your rate. I was rear ended yesterday and the other person's insurance company has accepted responsibility and I am supposed to take my car in tomorrow to get an estimate and check for the damages and rental, etc. Half of my bumper is pretty much hanging off while the other half is loose but still hanging on, and there are scratches above. However, today I looked at it and the damage is pretty much the same but there are more scratches and I noticed a tail light was cracked. I suspect that I was hit while parked at school (full of crazy young drivers running stop signs and "no turn on red" lights). I think the bumper has to be replaced either way since it is basically split in half and coming off but one side of the body looks slightly loosened and I don't know if it was like that yesterday or not, and I don't think the tail light was from the first accident either (the car did do more damage to the left side but I don't think the hood was tall enough to reach the light to be honest). How will the inspector person determine what damage was done by the first rear ending? The other person's insurance company was extremely nice and made the checking and payment process very simple. It should have been a very easy thing to get an estimate and get it fixed but now I am not sure how it will be handled. I can pay for the tail light cover myself if needed (how much is that anyway??) but the other damage done isn't much more than from before other than a couple more scratches in the paint. Pull out the headlight. 5 Mount the ballast to the rear of the headlight assembly with the double-sided adhesive pads or the zip ties provided in the installation kit. 6 Plug the headlight wiring harness into the ballast. 7 Insert the HID headlight into the assembly. Secure it in place with the retaining clip. Cover it with the rubber shroud. Thread the socket on the rear of the HID headlight through the hole in the shroud. Plug the built-in wiring harness on the ballast into the HID socket. 8 Repeat these steps for the other headlight.
